In our society it is not uncommon for people to have five or more jobs over the course of their career. The options surrounding what to do with an old 401(k) plan account can be confusing. This infographic does an excellent job of illustrating your options in a creative and easy to understand format.

401(k) Rollovers
As I wrote in 401(k) Rollovers – Buyer Beware, employees of large corporate and governmental organizations can be the targets of brokers who seek to roll these balances into investments that are less than beneficial to these folks.
If rolling your 401(k) over to an IRA account it is important that you select an IRA custodian that offers the types of investments and services that fit your needs.
The Bottom Line
Your 401(k) plan is a wonderful accumulation vehicle for retirement. It is important that you make good decisions with your 401(k) account when you leave your employer. Don’t ignore this important retirement asset.
