Roger Wohlner – The Chicago Financial Planner

Roger started The Chicago Financial Planner blog to share his knowledge and experiences as a financial advisor with his readers.  His goal is to provide ideas to readers in the hope of guiding them to take the actions needed to plan for the financial future they desire for themselves and their families.

Roger Wohlner is a fee-only financial advisor who accepts no fees or commissions from any provider of financial products or services. Clients can be assured that his advice is based entirely on their needs. He is a member of NAPFA, the largest professional organization for fee-only financial advisors in the country. All NAPFA Registered Advisors sign a Fiduciary Oath promising to act in the best interests of their clients. Roger earned the CFP® designation in 1996.  Roger is based in Arlington Heights, IL a suburb about 35 miles Northwest of Downtown Chicago.

Roger is a Registered Investment Advisor with the SEC.  He is self-employed, but also affiliated with Asset Strategy Consultants (ASC) an RIA firm with offices in multiple cities around the country.  Roger combines the independence of a business owner with the collective knowledge and resources of ASC to provide outstanding service and advice to his clients.

He has taught college-level finance courses, financial seminars for individuals, and CFP® education courses. He uses his educational background to communicate complex financial concepts to his clients in an understandable manner. Roger provides financial planning and wealth management services to individual clients and their families. Roger strives to provide his clients with a sense of control and peace of mind via financial planning and the ongoing monitoring of their situation.

Roger also provides investment consulting services to retirement plan sponsors, endowments and foundations. These organizations have a fiduciary responsibility to the stakeholders and beneficiaries of these funds; Roger helps these investment committees meet those obligations.

Roger has been quoted in a number of publications including Smart Money and Forbes. Roger writes extensively about various financial tropics as a regular contributor to the US News Smarter Investor Blog, with many of these articles also appearing on the Yahoo Finance site. Roger lives in Arlington Heights  with his wife, their three children, and their three dogs. He is involved in the community most recently via volunteer work for a local homeless shelter and has also served as a youth soccer coach.
