  1. Sir, Advice is not much good if it flies in the face of what is really going on. It seems pretty obvious that Government and business are doing all they can to absolutely insure that people cannot retire ever. I just read an article on the newly elected “private sector” wonks who are already playing around with Social Security and are now eyeing the trillions of dollars sitting in IRAs and 401Ks as the next big windfall to be tapped. They want to kill or sharply curtail the benefits of stretch IRAs and saddle beneficiaries with draconian tax liabilities. The young are going to need those monies even more than pending retirees today will. This is a scam.

      James thanks for your comment. I would agree that the current administration is not pro-retiree. With the problems that many states and municipalities are having with their pensions (aka Detroit and my home state of Illinois) plus the periodic pieces about Social Security potentially running out of money this seems like odd logic at best. I don’t know that I’d go as far as saying retirement is a scam and as the parent of three 20 somethings I would certainly not discourage them from planning and saving for their retirement.
